Milk may be the reason why your medicines don’t work

Drug interactions are not only limited to drug-drug interactions. Drug-food interactions exist and is one of the reasons why a medicine may not work effectively. Some foods we eat can interact with the medicines we take. Dairy products like milk can interfere with the absorption of some medicines. The calcium in the milk binds to the medicine and forms a compound that is not absorbable. This reduces the amount of medicine that is available to work in the body.
The medicines that milk can interact with include; Ciprofloxacin, Doxycycline, Tetracycline, Levofloxacin
Pharmacists are always available to give you advice on rational medicine use
